Lungi Naidoo

Africa

Born and bred in Kwa-Dukuza in KwaZulu-Natal, Naidoo fell in love with music when she was 10, listening to music in the mornings while getting ready for school. Exposed to the sounds of legendary songbirds Brenda Fassie, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, who inspired her to start singing. Now a part of the industry for more than two decades, singer and songwriter Lungi Naidoo has worked with some of the biggest artists in the industry, including renowned DJ Black Coffee on the hit single ‘Falling’. After a lengthy hiatus and a few false starts with various producers during 2020’s lockdown, Lungi eventually returned with her new Afro-pop flavoured EP boldly titled, ‘COURAGE’. Collaborating with South African-born, London-based producer and mixer Pete ‘Boxsta’ Martin and his Three Bears Ent. partner, songwriter and producer Dantae Johnson, the recording process was preceded by a week-long Zoom writing camp where Lungi, at her home studio in Cape Town, together with Dantae Johnson and songwriter Amelia Payne, at their studio in London, gave birth to the songs on ‘COURAGE’. Lungi’s hope for her tenacious EP, is that it helps someone out there who may have given up because she wants them to know that they matter and that their story, no matter what the circumstance, matters.
